BLACK CZAR FINDS LOVE IN HARLEM

SHORT FILM BLOCK // PRESENTED BY THE BLKCHAIN

Curated by Sian Morson

SYNOPSIS

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Harlem, “Black Czar in Harlem” is a whimsical and visually striking coming-of-age comedy that follows the life of Black Czar, a quirky and introverted 16-year-old with a deep love for vintage jazz and retro fashion. Living with his sharp-witted grandmother, Czar navigates the complexities of Harlem in his shell.

Black Czar secretly loves Maya Jennings, a popular and talented classmate known for her beautiful smile. However, his awkward and eccentric nature makes it difficult for him to express his feelings.

As he plans out his approach, he stuns himself by taking a chance that changes his life’s course forever.

“Black Czar in Harlem” celebrates identity, creativity, and the enduring power of young love, all set to a soulful jazz and whimsical soundtrack that embodies the spirit of Harlem. Through Czar’s eyes, we see the beauty of embracing one’s true self and the magical unpredictability of life.
