Today (January 26th), Jordan Bayne, director of the critically acclaimed The Sea Is All I Know – written by Bayne and starring Academy Award winner Melissa Leo, is minting RED FLAGS, a debut motion picture NFT onto the Ethereum blockchain leading the way to increase the number of filmmakers, especially women, trans and nonbinary, and other underrepresented creators to understand and utilize the power of WEB3 creator economy.

RED FLAGS is a stunning, hard-hitting motion picture which takes viewers on a harrowing emotional journey through the complexities of intimate partner violence, imploring us to open our eyes to the far too often-overlooked silent epidemic of domestic violence.

“RED FLAGS has a profound effect with its raw power and fragility,” said Bayne. “Toxic relationships are a silent epidemic. The short motion picture dives fearlessly into the visual trauma of intimate partner violence, reflecting the nuance and complicated emotional perspective of ordinary humans trying to break the cycle. RED FLAGS also features the accomplished work of inspiring new music artist Aliah Sheffield, who is best known for her original song, the witty and relatable “Earth is Ghetto,” whose catchy melody resonated with audiences, going viral in 2020. Sheffield is currently in the studio putting the final touches on her debut album.

Bayne’s work is powered by the belief that promoting intelligent discourse about deeply personal matters is necessary to fighting systemic social issues. Her work leverages the game changing technologies of NFTs and WEB3 to transform artists’ and filmmakers’ livelihoods, moving away from the damaging content economy model to an equitable, sustainable creator economy model.

RED FLAGS, the motion picture, will be released as a 1 of 1 edition that will be sold and collected on the blockchain.

Bayne is also excited to announce a joint partnership with six of the leading women and nonbinary artist/industry leaders in the NFT ecosystem—Sheila Darcey, Charmaine Hussain, Ashira Siegal Fox, Dr. Lemny Perez, Margaret Corvid, and Jimena Buena Vida to create companion works inspired by Bayne’s motion picture, to be sold as THE COURAGE COLLECTION, with proceeds going to charities committed to stopping gender based violence.

NFTs will allow TV networks, film studios and independent filmmakers to execute innovative strategies that put artists first. With this project, Bayne is paving the way for other filmmakers to learn how to employ the power of NFTs, WEB3 and the Metaverse to create works with utility, collectibility and social impact, with the revenue stream going straight to the creator, cutting out 98% of the middle man.

NFTs have seen measurable change and growth in 2021. NFT market OpenSea volume grew from $28M in 2020 to $14.4B in 2021 and there is no reason to believe it will do anything but sky rocket in 2022. Bayne intends to bring these unprecedented numbers to the TV, film and music industries. However, only 5% of the sales in the NFT space are by those other than white, cisgender men, and it is a part of Bayne’s manifesto to make sure that underrepresented communities are able to carve out an equitable place within the burgeoning WEB3 world

ABOUT JORDAN BAYNE

JORDAN BAYNE, an award-winning, internationally exhibited filmmaker and actor, is no stranger to working with A-list talent. Her career began acting with Golden Globe winner Martin Sheen in A STRANGER IN THE KINGDOM. Her television career started with Showtime’s Poltergeist: The Legacy, and she has also been seen on the critically acclaimed Law & Order. Her first role in the theatre landed her onstage with Golden Globe winner James Gandolfini and Oscar winner Marisa Tomei in the Naked Angels production of “Summerwinds”. Bayne had an award nominated turn in the film UNDER HELLGATE BRIDGE with Dominick Chianese and Vincent Pastore where one critic noted, ”Jordan Bayne proves that true strength lies in vulnerability.”

Bayne has an unbridled passion for making films that are original and meaningful. Most recently, Bayne edited her first feature film, Stacey Maltin’s TRIPLE THREAT. Currently she is in development on a TV project for NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback Terry Bradshaw and Marc Henry Johnson of HBO’s The Deuce, her American feature THE LAW OF UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES, as well as several US/Spain projects — THE LORCA PROJECT, a digital series, and her feature films BLACK SORROW and SHADOW — with some of Spain’s most notable international emerging talent attached.

Bayne’s company Shooting Angels is powered by an international creative collective of established and emerging talent.
