Red Flags Film: A groundbreaking NFT motion picture that is “Truly Cinematic”

Jordan Bayne is an internationally renowned writer, director and actor. Her career has spanned over 20 years so far and started as an actor in the 1999 Thriller/Drama, A Stranger in the Kingdom. Now, she’s releasing her newest short film as an NFT. The film is titled ‘Red Flags’ and explores the important topic of domestic violence.

Jordan Bayne’s Red Flags is a short film released on the blockchain about inner-relationship domestic violence.

A Short Film: Red Flags

Red Flags is a short film revolving around the sensitive topic of domestic violence within relationships.  Actually, this project is a groundbreaking one in the space, described by Bayne as “one of the first [films on the blockchain] that is truly cinematic” and with “social impact”.

Working alongside her on this 1:1 motion picture,  actors Isi LaBorde and Gabrial Furman.  Plus, music composer Aliah Sheffield – best known for her song ‘The Earth is Ghetto’. Dropping on the 26th of January, it will be available on the Ethereum Network via Zora. On this date, it will also be available for the public to watch for free.

Asking why Bayne decided to go with a 1:1, she said, “it deserves that type of collector who really wants that kind of ownership”.

Jordan Bayne’s thoughts on the hard-hitting subject matter

Indeed, Red Flags is a stunning, hard-hitting motion picture that takes viewers on a harrowing emotional journey.  Taking us through the complexities of intimate partner violence, it implores us to open our eyes to the often-overlooked silent epidemic.

Accordingly, there is a trigger warning attached. Mainly, as the film exposes some all-too-true aspects about society that many other filmmakers aren’t willing to touch upon. Actually, Jordan Bayne spent about a year deciding what her Genesis NFT piece would be, and this short is certainly something powerful in this nascent industry.

Trying to tackle the shame and support people

The topics in Red Flags are close to Jordan’s heart. She said ” I’m a big believer in telling these stories”,” not shying away from them, and not romanticising them”. Similarly, her Oscar-contented film ‘The Sea Is All I Know’, tells the story of a family and their terminally ill child.  Apparently, she believes that a lot of these difficult feelings around such subjects come from shame. Therefore,  shedding light on these issues gives those who have lived these experiences to feel seen, and we can create meaningful dialogue around it.

Compassionately, she addressed the film’s viewers, “If there’s someone out there, that sees themselves represented in this, we see them and we are willing to support them”. She added, ” They [said] in the  LGBTQIA+ community back in the day, ‘silence equals death’. I don’t think that’s necessarily just physical, that’s also on a very sort of soul-spiritual level”.

Jordan Bayne stresses the importance of Inclusivity

Actually, she has a huge focus on equality and inclusivity – both in the Film and NFTs industries. Firstly, she made a conscious effort to hire women, non-binary and transgender people in her cast and production crew for the Red Flags film.  Plus, Bayne partnered with 6 women and non-binary artists (amongst others) , to create works specific to the film, dubbed ‘The Courage Collection’, which will be released a few days after the 1:1 film is minted. What’s more, they will be donating part of the proceeds to charities against gender-based violence.

Beyond the Red Flags film release and Jordan Bayne’s plans for the future

Excitedly, Jordan Bayne told NFTevening she’s looking forward to the drop herself “I’m pretty bullish about it”, she chuckled.  Indeed, the 1:1 NFT sold for an impressive 4ETH on Zora.

Luckily, this is certainly not the last we will hear from her. Reportedly, there are 2 more films in the works. Although most details are under wraps, apparently a feature film with some incredible Spanish talent is in-the-making.  Incredibly, she’s also working on bagging Penelope Cruz! Plus, that’s not the only thing she’s working on, pandemic-willing, she looks to release yet another film later too.

So make sure to check out the Red Flags Film Website, and more about Jordan Bayne on her website too.
